Day 6 | Nha Trang – Buon Ma Thuot

Cham towers

Cham towers

This morning we slept late, because the plan was to go to Tuy Hoa, which is only a short drive on the uninteresting HW1. Armand and me were on the lobby at 9:30, as agreed the evening before. After calling the other guys and another half our we were complete and ready to go for breakfast and the Cham towers. We took breakfast in a market street, with fresh meat, vegies and fish being traded by between the locals. My breakfast was Pho. This time the speciest Pho I ever had, I didn’t finish it and can still feel it in my stomache. Even Louis was sweating and couldn’t finish his bowl. I thind adding sambal would have made it less spicy…

After breakfast we continued to the Cham towers at the end of the street. The Po Nagar Cham towers were build between the 7th and 12th century and restored were old parts collapsed or broke down. The Cham people are a minority group, using the towers for praying. All around the old brick building were bonsai trees, which we see at almost all tourist attraction.

Day 6 route

Day 6 route

Back to the hotel, pick-up our washed laundry and luggage. Because the road for tomorrow is slippery and difficult because of rain and mud slides we decided to change our route, back to our original plan. So we are now in Buon Ma Thuot, about 180 km from Nha Trang, arriving in the dark of course. We passed some mountains, which does not only mean really great views (and rain) but also really fun driving with all the turns and hairpins up and down. We also passed a whole lot of farmer village with rice fields and, children waving and shoutinng “hello” (shouldn’t they be in school?) and smiling/laughing people because of Armands decorated scooter.

We are now in hotel My Linh, which should be removed from the Lonely Planet, because it’s crappy and not clean. When Roel finishes his grasshopper flavoured potatoe chips, it’s time for some sleep, tomorrow will be a long day.
