Day 10 | Hoi An and My Son

Today we stayed in Hoi An to have a look around here and in the neighbourhood. First breakfast in the hotel. For some reason everything that contains milk is made of powdered milk. Tomorrow we will have breakfast somewhere else.

After breakfast we first brought Armand’s scooter to some repair guy, he has a flat tire, no back brake and the entire headlight area is wobbly. No problem finding a repair guy, every few hundred meters (in inhabited locations) you find one! Just look for sua xe and you found one. The repairing takes more than two hours, so we leave the scooter there and leave with Armand as Maarten’s passenger.

Now it’s time to get another suite measured. Only this time not a formal one, but one for partying. Roel’s is all red, Louis’ green with blue flowers, Maarten’s blue with bright flowers, Armand’s red with flowers, my trowsers are blue with white flowers and an orange jacket. They should be ready tomorrow morning.

My Son

My Son

My Son

My Son was the old theological and intellectual center of the Cham people. It has quite some brick buildings, build between the 4th and 14th century. When found there was much much more to see than now, because the Americans bombed them as crazy, so much less is left now. Still nice to see and impressive some of the buildings are still standing, considering their age. A must see when in Vietnam.

Hoi An

Also we had another walk around in Hoi An. The central market sells fruits and veggies (some I’ve never seen before), souvenirs, lot’s of flowers, meat, fish (Hoi An is next to the ocean). We also had Cao lầu for lunch. This is the local street food specialty, noodles with porc and veggies. We also had fittings for our custom made suits. Our party suits asked for more than enough attention, other tourists where even making pictures of us. Some souvenir shopping and dinner and a the day was over already.
